Chris Brown has testified in connection with a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit filed by his former housekeeper, offering new details about the aftermath of a dog attack that left the woman with severe injuries.
During court testimony, Brown reportedly explained why he did not personally place the 911 call after housekeeper Maria Avila was attacked by a dog at his property in 2020. According to Brown, he feared that a recording of the emergency call would eventually be leaked to the media and create what he described as a public “circus.”
Instead, Brown said members of his security team arranged for someone else to contact emergency services while first responders were dispatched to the scene.
The lawsuit stems from an incident in which Avila suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a Caucasian Shepherd dog on the property. According to testimony, Brown said he was inside his home when he heard a growling noise and rushed outside to investigate.
Brown testified that he found Avila lying face down in the driveway with significant injuries and heavy bleeding. He stated that emergency assistance was immediately sought and that his management team later advised him to leave the property once paramedics arrived due to concerns about media attention.
Avila filed a lawsuit in 2021 seeking damages related to the incident, alleging severe physical and emotional trauma resulting from the attack. The lawsuit reportedly seeks up to $90 million in damages.
While Brown has accepted partial responsibility for the injuries sustained, he has disputed ownership of the dog involved. According to his testimony, the animal was allegedly purchased and handled by members of his security team rather than by him personally.
The case remains ongoing, and no final judgment has been reached. As with all civil litigation, the allegations and defenses presented by both sides will ultimately be evaluated through the legal process.
The lawsuit continues to draw public attention due to Brown’s celebrity status and the severity of the injuries described in court filings.
