Federal Judge at Center of Explosive Misconduct Scandal as Investigation Draws National Attention

A federal judge in Georgia is facing intense scrutiny after a judicial misconduct investigation concluded that she engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a high-ranking Atlanta police official, allegedly including intimate encounters inside her courthouse chambers during business hours.

According to multiple reports, the judge has been identified as Eleanor Ross, while the police official involved has been named as Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Kelley Collier.

The allegations emerged from a judicial misconduct investigation that reportedly included witness testimony, security records, and complaints from courthouse staff.

Investigators found that the relationship allegedly lasted for roughly two years and that encounters took place inside the judge’s chambers during work hours.

Court employees reportedly told investigators they could hear kissing, music, and other sounds coming from inside the office, creating what some described as an uncomfortable workplace environment.

The case has generated widespread controversy because federal judges hold lifetime appointments and are expected to follow strict ethical standards.

The misconduct report also reportedly found that Ross attended a political event that judges are generally prohibited from attending and made inaccurate statements during the investigation. As a result, she received a private reprimand and agreed to issue apology letters to affected staff members.

The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed it opened an investigation to determine whether the officer named in reports is one of its employees.

Neither Ross nor Collier has publicly commented in detail on the allegations.

The scandal has fueled debate across legal and political circles, with critics arguing that the punishment was too lenient given the seriousness of the findings. Others have questioned whether stronger disciplinary action should be taken against public officials involved in misconduct allegations.
