A heartbreaking case involving a popular social media dog has sparked outrage across the internet after a well-known travel influencer reported that his beloved Border Collie was allegedly stolen and later killed before he could be rescued.
According to reports, the influencer, known online as Guo, launched an extensive search after his dog, Chutou, suddenly disappeared while staying with a family member in China’s Henan Province.
Chutou was not only a cherished pet but also an online sensation, reportedly attracting more than 1.5 million followers across social media platforms.
Determined to find answers, Guo reportedly reviewed surveillance footage and began tracing the dog’s movements.
According to multiple reports circulating online, the investigation led him to an individual suspected of taking the Border Collie.
When confronted, the suspect allegedly claimed he believed the dog was a stray despite Chutou’s appearance and popularity.
Reports indicate the individual admitted to selling the dog for approximately 180 yuan, equivalent to about $27 USD.
Guo’s search reportedly continued as he attempted to track down everyone involved in the chain of transactions. However, according to reports, by the time he located a subsequent buyer, the dog had already been resold.
Local media reports state that Chutou was ultimately sold to a restaurant and was tragically killed before any recovery efforts could be completed.
The reported outcome has devastated supporters who had followed the Border Collie’s adventures online for years.
Authorities have reportedly opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Guo has also indicated that he intends to pursue legal action against those allegedly involved, seeking accountability for what happened to his pet.
The case has generated widespread reactions on social media, where thousands of users have expressed grief, anger, and support for Guo. Many commenters have called for a thorough investigation and appropriate legal consequences if wrongdoing is confirmed.
As the investigation continues, Chutou’s story has become a symbol of the emotional bond between pets and their owners, while also raising broader discussions about animal protection, pet theft, and accountability.
